Sometimes help is exactly what you need
It’s Finding Me Friday and Mother’s Day weekend. I’m the mom of two fabulous young men. The best, most important job I’ve ever had is M.O.M.
I’ve always wanted my boys to know that I’ve got their backs, no matter what. Admittedly at times I’ve championed that concept a bit too far - putting myself at the very, very, way back of the line when it comes to taking care of me, to make sure my boys are happy, healthy, and thriving. I think that might be a really good mom thing as so many of my friends do the same...just sayin.
Now that I find myself in mid-life, with injuries that aren’t healing the way they used to, and my synapses not firing as quickly as they once did, I’m having to acknowledge that instead of holding everything together for everyone in my family and beyond, it’s time for me to slow down, lean in to surrender, and ask for help. Yep, not easy to ask, but when help arrives that makes everything better, it’s totally worth it.
To all the moms reading this, please remember that the world is a much more sparkly place because you’re in it. Take good care of you. Ask for that helping hand when you need one.
Keep creating.
